Beauty Tips for Today's Belly Dancer

A Belly Dancer's Essential: Epsom Salts

Ever get sidelined from too much belly dance?  More often than not, Epsom Salts were probably recommended to you by your belly dance teacher or classmates.  But there are so many other benefits that had to share them with you.

Epsom Salts, named after the city in England counted as one of the first discovery sites of active ingredient Magnesium Sulfate, have a long history of being associated with alleviating aches, pains, and itches. But did you know they have equal amounts of nutritional and beauty help?

According to Discovery Health, you can use Epsom Salts to relieve stress, soothe muscles, soften skin, and even reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Skin Exfoliante: Rub handfuls of Epsom Salts in their crystal form on wet skin, starting with your feet and moving upwards.

Add Acne Fighting Power to Your Face Wash: Add ½ teaspoon of Epsom Salts to your normal face wash to remove blackheads and other skin impurities.

Wash Out Your Performance Hairdo: Remove sticky hairspray after performing with these household ingredients. The day before your performance, combine 1 gallon of water, 1 cup of lemon juice, and 1 cup Epsom Salts. Cover and let set for 24 hours. After you perform, pour the mixture into your dry hair (you’ll probably want to avoid doing this while still wearing your costume) and let it sit for 20 minutes. Then shampoo as normal.

Add Some Shimmy to Your Hair: Increase the shine and volume of your hair by mixing equal parts deep conditioner and Epsom Salts. Warm in pan, then work through hair. Let sit for 20 minutes then rinse.
