What's worse... the economy or our attitudes?
Sometimes I take a news sabbatical. Not because I want to be ignorant of the world around me, but because there are times that I can no longer listen to bad, bad, and worse.
Sometimes there are people that I limit my time with. Not because I'm trying to hurt feelings, but because I can only take their negative energy in small doses. You know the types: Debbie Downers that have nothing but bad news and negative comments about
EVERYTHING.
"Ahh, look at that cute puppy,"
"Yeah, probably has fleas & left untreated that puppy will die."
And sometimes I really find value in the laziness of others. That's less competition for me.
Unfortunately I am beginning to see that people can and will use the poor state of the economy as a scape-goat or cover for their laziness. If you want to be lazy, fine. When it begins to affect me and my business, that's when I get mad! (If I went into a full explanation of the number of businesses that I've had to call for services that I must have, and the number of unreturned calls, you would be shocked. Further, I would be worked up into another frenzy. Needless to say, I'll spare you the details, as my blog would digress into a novella/editorial.)
So, does the world have bad economic situations at hand? Yes, doesn't take much thinking to answer that question. But, based on my observations over the past month... I would challenge the conventional thoughts on this subject.
Perception is reality - no one can argue that fact. So I challenge people to change their perceptions ----- quit belly-aching so damn much! Change your attitude and the events around you will change as well.
Yes, I have been told that I wear rose-colored glasses. So what? From what I can tell, it's better than the nay-sayers choice. Do you really want to be Eeyore all the time?
What causes a recession? The public's perception, thereby reducing spending. That happened. What has caused this current financial fiasco? Oh let's not get into that ongoing cesspool of a debating/yelling/finger-pointing.
You cannot control what business leaders, politicians and others have done, but you can control how you will pull yourself from it.
People want to feel good,
so market yourself in a more savvy manner belly dance teachers & musicians.
People want to be entertained,
put together a new show... work with a restaurant to pull in publicity for both parties.
(gee, I know a great new website that can help! ;)
Adjust your attitude, avoid the Debbie Downers, and maybe take a news sabbatical. It is a good thing.
