Food For Belly Dancers: 5-Minute Veggies Recipe

Food lore

For many belly dancers, preparing healthy foods in five minutes is not an easy task. When we are short on time, we sacrifice our diets first. We reach for anything we can microwave, unwrap, or order in less than five minutes. But there are quick and easy vegetables you can make to supplement, or replace, any starch-heavy meal... and that's good for all belly dancers looking to stay in Hip+Fit shape.

The key ingredient to all of these recipes is this handy olive oil mister – Misto (no endorsement deal here, promise). For under $10, you can add flavor to any meal without worrying about excess salt or too many calories (like drizzling olive oil over your meal can often do). Olive oil is a great source of antioxidants, plus it can help with cholesterol. More importantly, olive oil is tasty.

Recipe

With a few simple and easy steps, you can make oven-baked vegetables full of flavor.

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • Herbs (we prefer fresh, but dried will work)
  • Vegetables of choice

Preparation

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit*
  2. Wash, chop and prepare your vegetables to liking
  3. Lay flat on cookie sheet
  4. Sprinkle fresh or dry herbs over the vegetables
  5. Spray olive oil
  6. Place in oven

We recommend setting your timer for 5 minutes and then continuing to check until the vegetables are soft without being mushy (a fork works best here).
