"I've always been interested and involved in helping charities," says Kansas City-based dancer Zoria Kali. "I've worked for several organizations that are focused on helping women and children. So when I became a belly dancer it was natural for me to want to combine those worlds."

The most common fundraising events include animal rescue efforts, natural disasters, and even raising money to help belly dance brothers and sisters facing serious medical situations.

"I know that belly dancers are some of the most supporting and charitable givers when disasters or aide is needed," says dancer Dilara Sultan.

Needless to say, belly dancers have caring hearts and are always willing to help. But unfortunately, the fact remains that there are plenty of dishonest individuals who lurk around, happy to benefit off the generosity of others.
