I have been studying bellydance since 1999 and teaching since 2010. I began Nouveau Gypsy Bellydance troupe in 2011. I am a regular contributing writer for Fuse: a tribal and tribal fusion bellydance magazine.
I am creating a beautiful retreat center in Holualoa on the Big Island of Hawaii for workshops & holidays for dancers & artists with appropraite studios onsite for both. I am a third generation artist as well as a belly dance instructor, specializing in mixed media portraits and custom original artwork (I also teach Art).
when I was 17 I bus'd tables at a restaurant where the owner & her family were belly dancing black irish gypsies & they adopted me into their "harem" & taught me the moves... the obsession has raged on ever since
I used to live in Italy when I was studying Fine Art in college- I have been to France, England, Scotland, & Wales... but definitely would LOVE to do some more extensive traveling soon... Morocco, Egypt, Turkey, India, & Nepal are high on the list!
Too many to mention!
I have had the honor to study with Souhail Kaspar, Myra Krien, Ansuya, Willow Chang, Dalia Carella, Moria Chappell, Rachel Brice, & Zoe Jakes.
Dance style(s): Nouveau Gypsy Fusion
I am available to perform for your parties, events, or special occasions as a soloist or with my troupe: Nouveau Gypsy BellyDance.
I also can do bellydance parties for adults or children where each guest gets a coin scarf & bindi- a performance from me in full costume & a lesson to start your dance party off- I can also be available for an additional hour to give guests temporary Henna tattooes.
For Showers/Birthdays- I have a 30 minute show that involves showering the guest of honor with rose petals I dance in via a tray balanced on my head= very beautiful photo opp when petals rain down on the distinguished guest.
I teach mixed level belly dance classes for adults and children at several times & locations in West Hawaii Island. Some of my classes include a half hour of costuming instruction so you can learn to create the "look" that goes the "moves".
In my classes I lead you through basic concepts, drill technique, introduce rhythms, encourage improvisation through games, and end in exercises designed to tone, strengthen, and stretch the muscles for increased flexibility, control, stamina, & balance; conditioning the body for dance.
Nouveau Gypsy Fusion is my personal style that employs rhythm-based combinations for group improvisation.
You can find current times and maps to locations on my website: www.stephaniebolton.com
I also run an after school teen mentoring program called Incense (a S.E.E.D. program) where teen girls meet 3x a week after school to learn tribal bellydance and art journaling. more details at www.incensehawaii.weebly.com
